Good poetry is like a good art piece. It is supposed to capture our eyes, mind, heart and soul. The reader is meant to be hypothetically thrown into the writers thoughts. It is not about rhymes, figures of speech or even good story-telling; instead it is about being able to vividly describe the picture in the writers head and put the reader there. The reader should be able to paint this mental picture in their head. They are there, they know. This is what makes poems good.
